Prov 11:2, 16:18-21 “When pride comes, then comes dishonor, But with the humble is wisdom.”
“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
The wise in heart will be called understanding, And sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness (learning).”
Jas 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, & He will exalt you.” (c.f. Mt 23:12)
Humility before the Lord is significantly easier achieved in isolation than among others in this prideful world. As we have previously discussed, pride is self-reliance whereas humility is submitting your entire existence, your entire essence to God.
