I once internalized 1000s of motivational & leadership tapes; including those by Charlie “Tremendous” Jones. One of Jones’ memorable quotes, “They told me to act like a man. So, I looked around & became one of the actors. Only later did I become a man.”
This also applies to vast areas of our lives, including our life as Christians. We often hear that we need “Christian values.” Christian values are like clothes, they change our exterior but not our DNA.
Conversely, surrendering to the indwelling Holy Spirit whom we receive upon belief in Christ, transforms our hearts, minds, and souls, our spiritual DNA.
Once when flying into LAX, I was sad by a city glorified by actors instead of the authentic.
Are you worshiping, praising the Lord, & praying w/the sole motive of Jesus being glorified in/thru for whatever you pray? Do you pray for the Holy Spirit to authentically control your inner-man (Eph 5:18)?
