Jesus to the Disciples
Mt 5:14–16: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Notice this last verse does NOT say that your motive should be that observers Glorify YOU and/or YOUR ORGANIZATION. Rather, to GLORIFY GOD the FATHER in Heaven.
Perhaps you like to serve &/or encourage others as prompted by the Holy Spirit. Are you discouraged/disappointed when your efforts/good works appear unappreciated?
If so, reflect on your motive. Is your motive to simply & obediently serve God & those He places on your heart, or are you seeking Self-Glory?
Remember, those you serve/encourage probably intended to respond & forgot.
Some are too insecure; they lack a secure identity in Christ. If they are indeed out of line, let God correct them.
Ultimately, keep your MOTIVES focused on GLORIFYING GOD!!!
