Running on Faith Weekday Devotions:
Philippians 3:20–21: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.
“Eagerly await” (apekdechometha) suggests a tiptoe anticipation and longing. (c.f. Rom 8:19, 23, 25; 1 Cor 1:7; Gal 5:5; Hebr 9:28.)
Each believer saved through Jesus Christ will face a moment when our bodies will be transformed into Christ’s glory. Our hurts and earthly limitations will disappear. (c.f. Eph 2:19; 1 Cor 15:43, 49; Col 3:1; Hebrews 12:22)
I have told many runners, “Whatever you have to go through in this race is worth it!!”
I have passed people in championship races after literally blacking-out from the pain. How much greater reward is the glory of Christ?
Isn’t whatever you have to go through for the glory of Christ Jesus worth it!!?
