Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.”
On or near today’s date as a child, my dad, mom, and sister would take an ax & empty feed sacks to collect ice from the river that was 148.6 yds from our house.
We then placed this river-ice around the hand-crank ice cream maker. I thought using this ice far exceeded using ice from the freezer. Dad reminded me that years ago all ice was nature frozen.
Additionally, isn’t it amazing how this small annual act for roughly 15 years, continues to generate joyful birthday memories decades later?
Imagine specifically trusting God for all things such as freezing temps for ice. In reality, we still do. It is, however, easy to place our trust in refrigerators, freezers, & electricity. Yet, whose creation, provision, & sovereignty enables these man-enhanced freezing mechanisms?
What else do we take for granted, failing to see God’s hand in their existence? This redirects our trust from the Lord to creation & our own understanding.
List three things in your daily life. How do you ultimately trust God for each of the three?
