Running on Faith Weekday Devotions:
September 30, 2019 — Numbers 20:11–12
As a child, world-renowned Kansas State plant scientists visited our farm, first as researchers, then as friends. They stayed overnight & hunted. Jim’s achievements included the world’s 1st albino soybean plant. Others tried to replicate & failed due to ignoring precise instructions.
Do you follow precise instructions?
Numbers 20:11–12: Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank. But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy…”
Moses ignored God’s precise instructions, striking the rock instead of speaking to it. Therefore, God prevented him from entering the Promised Land.
The Bible is filled with God’s detailed instructions, including all immorality is sin & forgiveness/salvation occur only thru Jesus. Despite our best reasoning, there is no ‘wiggle’ room. Precise obedience recognizes God as Holy.
