Do you become frustrated when those whom you trust, including animals, fail to cooperate?

Numbers 22:27, 31: “When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam was angry and struck the donkey with his stick.”
31 “Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his drawn sword in his hand, and he bowed all the way to the ground.”

God was angry with Balaam for leaving so He sent an angel w/a sword to stand in front of Balaam’s loyal donkey to stop him. Initially, only the donkey could see the angel. Balaam became angry from being presumptuous instead of inquisitive.

God often achieves His sovereignty well beyond our comprehension.

When those with proven loyalty fail to cooperate, begin by seeking the Lord’s wisdom instead of getting upset. Perhaps God is guiding them for your benefit. Stay inquisitive instead of presumptuous.

Additional comments:

Humility <–> Inquisitiveness as Arrogance <–> Presumptuousness.

A humble heart before the Lord seeks the Lord. A proud heart, in opposition to the Lord, ignores the Lord and seeks self, believing that self is above all.

Profrossenial electricians, that I have known, are absolutely positive that breakers are turned off before touching any wires. Because, errant presumptions, at best, damage one’s health, and often lethal.

Errant, arrogant presumptions have the same effect on relationships.

Ponderings:

  • Are there times in life when we need to make presumptions?
  • How do we differentiate between healthy presumptions from arrogant presumptions?
  •  What is the first step before instigating presumptions?
  • When have you been errantly presumptuous instead of inquisitive?
  • What were the results?
  •  What questions would you ask first the next time you face a similar scenario?
  • What prevents or discourages you from inquisitiveness, asking questions and verifying information?
  •  How does emotional and spiritual maturity affect presumptions and inquisitiveness?
