Psalm 1 – A wisdom Psalm. Uses similes, & summarizes & contrasts the two options for man: Righteous vs Wicked.

Parallelisms (A<=>A & B<=>B):

Ps 1:1—“How (A)blessed (Lit. “Oh the happiness”) is the man who does not walk (B)in the counsel of the wicked, Nor (A)stand (B)in the path of sinners, nor (A)sit (B)in the seat of scoffers!”

Note the ascending trilogy of the Righteous pivotal decisions in choosing the narrow gate of life vs. the broad gate of destruction. (Mt 7:13-14)

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Mt 7:13–14)

As a child, we occasionally walked approximately 200 yds to the ~45’ vertical bank above the river. Dad emphasized standing four to five feet back from the bank’s edge. While rare, eroded chunks of soil occasionally plummeted into the river. Similarly, flirting with evil can result in immediate, unescapable destruction.

As Congo instructs, “always put yourself in a position to win.”

Do you put yourself in a position to win by perpetually seeking Christ’s wisdom & guidance?
